Where Bun fits

A measured runtime/tooling assessment with a clear operational reason to change.

When to choose another approach

Do not assume every Node.js dependency or deployment works unchanged, or that faster tooling means faster user requests.

Worked example and evidence

Fictional API team: compare install, build and representative request behaviour on the same repository and host, including native dependencies and deployment tooling.

What you need to supply

Current/target versions, lockfile, dependencies, native modules, deployment and baseline measurements.

What acceptance should demonstrate

Verify required APIs, errors, package scripts, production deployment and comparable workload results.

Running costs and responsibilities

Assign runtime updates, compatibility review, production diagnostics and rollback ownership.

Technical scope to confirm

Consult Bun’s current Node.js compatibility notes for the exact APIs and packages in use.

A proposal should identify the systems and data, direction of sync, access feasibility, failure handling, named owners and included deliverables. Listing this technology does not imply a prebuilt connector, vendor partnership or included feature.

What is the operational benefit of changing runtime?

Define a measurable problem first, such as build duration or a constrained workload. Keep the current runtime if migration effort and compatibility risks outweigh demonstrated value.
